Data Carpentry is a Fiscally Sponsored Project of NumFOCUS, a 501(c)3 organization.

Data Carpentry is governed by a volunteer Steering Committee and run by its Staff.

There are several joint Software and Data Carpentry Subcommittees

  • Mentoring Subcommittee - The Mentoring Subcommittee mentors instructors and runs discussion sections.
  • Maintainers Subcommittee - The Maintainers Subcommittee is responsible for maintaining and publishing our core lessons and for overseeing development of the workshop and lesson templates.
  • Instructor Trainers Subcommittee - Provides communication and coordination between Instructor Trainers.
  • Bridge Subcommittee - Staff and Steering Committee members working to align activities between Software and Data Carpentry
